Good : Bad : Ugly
A nomadic installation consisting of three residential units shaped as mobile billboards. Because trailers don’t require any special permit, they were used to place billboards on. During the course of 9 months, these units were inhabited by performers, architecture and art students, but also activist squatters. The residents were able to gain an income through the billboard advertising. In Belgium, each city or municipality has its own advertising regulations and therefore, when going from place to place, a lawyer was present to ensure that each time local regulation was followed. Residents each received a monthly allowance of one thousand euro, turning this nomadic cowboy camp into an experiment on basic income on the fringe of the liberal free-market. This project was set up in a time when there was a strong political emphasis in Belgium to boost the independent entrepreneurship of artists.
